Mimi meets Kitsune

As the academy bells' rang in the early morning of Konohagakure, the students were signalled to get to class on time. For one young seven year old girl, school starting early was bad enough for her. Then came the teachers rambling on about some jutsu. She knew that she should listen, but the way they spoke….. It just bored her. It didn't help that she was known to be lazy, either. Soon after that, the teachers would give her a lecture about sleeping in class. It's not like she fell asleep every day. Little did this little girl know that today was about to get a lot worse.
As the class of first years lined up and waited for the teacher, another young girl stomped up to class. As many others noticed her appearance, sudden murmurs suffocated the room's atmosphere.
'Wow, she's pretty!'
'Isn't she that one who's been transferred into our class? Isn't she called Mimizawari…?'
Mimi ignored all the comments. She knew all too well that she was beautiful. She decided that she'd boast about it later, because someone had just caught her eye….
That red hair. Those green eyes. She frowned in envy.
This was that girls fault! Why did she have green eyes? Judging by her expression and how she dressed, she did not have the right to have those green eyes. She realised that Mimi was glaring at her, and looked away, almost afraid of how to react. Annoyed that she'd shown almost no reaction, Mimi tapped Kitsune on the shoulder- hard. Jumping in surprise, the girl turned to Mimi, frowning.
'Umm… Are you okay?' she asked quietly.
Mimi growled. 'I hate that question! What am I supposed to say, that I am okay? Because I'm not!' she snapped.
The girl loosened a bit. 'Oh… umm…' Looking quite unsure, she looked around the room. After some moments of thinking, she looked back at Mimi. 'My name's Hikura Kitsune!'
A Hikura. Of course. 'Don't change the subject.'
Kitsune frowned again. 'There wasn't a subject to begin with!'
'Yes there was! You asked me if I was okay and-'
Mimi was interrupted by a sudden burst of laughter. She hated being interrupted, but being laughed at just really hit the spot. Kitsune looked up grinning and saw Mimi's unimpressed expression.
'I'm sorry….' She apologized, 'It's just….. I don't know what to say!'
Mimi sighed. 'Let me spell it out for you. I don't like it how you have pretty red hair and green eyes, while I'm stuck with brown eyes and brown hair! It's just not fair, give me your green eyes at least!!'
Kitsune's happy expression faded. 'But… I think your eyes are a lot better than mine. I like how they're so light. Mine are all dark… It's annoying.'
'You're lying aren't you!' Mimi snapped. 'Are you patronizing me??'
Kitsune paused. 'What's patronizing?'
Mimi just stared at her. This girl was… stupid. 'You don't know… what patronizing is.'
'Nope. But don't get me wrong, I'm only seven…'
'That's not much of an excuse.' Mimi huffed. 'All I know is that you have better eyes than mine.'
'Yet people are calling you pretty and I've never heard a compliment like that about me.'
'It's not a compliment unless it comes from someone who is pretty, besides I've never heard anything different than that – it's more of a passing by comment to me than a compliment.'
Kitsune's expression told Mimi that she was saying 'Are you serious?'.
The teacher finally showed up late, and ushered everyone inside.
'This is the new student in our class everyone. Her name is Winsor Mimizwari. She needs to sit somewhere, anyone got a free seat next to them?'
Kitsune glanced at the empty seat next to her, and put her hand up. 'Sensei, she can sit here.'
The teacher blinked in surprise as her fast reaction. 'Okay, then. Any reasons why?'
Kitsune shrugged. 'I just think…. I have a lot to learn from her, somewhat.'
Mimi smirked at the young girls' naïve actions. Oh, she had it all wrong. She wasn't going to teach her anything; she was going to tell her what to do. Kitsune also seemed like the girl to do as she was told if she had to.
Through the next few years, Kitsune would be getting many commands from Mimi. Things like 'You should grow your hair long!' and, 'Wear eyeliner, it'll bring out your green eyes!'
